The social media giant is constantly changing and evolving, and it seems like every few months they announce some other big change they’re making. Well, in that same spirit of change, Facebook has added a new feature that’s sure to have many people asking their “friends” all kinds of personal information they may not be very comfortable giving out.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">You don’t have to be a Facebook pro to have dealt with the “about” section on your profile – you know, it’s that annoying part that wants you to fill in your schools, relationship status, jobs, etc. If you’re like me, you haven’t filled out the parts with the information you don’t want to share with your friends. In days past, that part of your profile would just be blank when people looked at it. <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/tech/feeling-flirty-you-can-now-request-a-facebook-friends-86240670224.html" style="color: #0092dd;" target="_blank">Now, thanks to an update, there is a nice little “ask” button wherever you’ve decided not to fill in the information</a>. You’re probably guessing what the button’s for – that’s right – it’s so all of your “friends” can ask you to tell them your private information.</span></div>

Fraunhofer developing fuel cell system to power the home

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">As the world shifts to alternative forms of energy, ways to make homes less dependent on the grid continue to gather steam. Fuel cells, which are more efficient and have lower emissions than internal combustion engines seem like a logical candidate for taking up the slack, so the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems (IKTS) in Dresden is partnering with the heater manufacturer Vaillant to develop a domestic fuel cell system that uses natural gas to produce both heating and electricity.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Fuel cells have been around since 1838, and have long seemed like the power source of tomorrow, but it wasn’t until the 1960s that the first commercial fuel cells appeared, when they were used to power spacecraft. Though they’ve seen some applications in the automotive industry in the 1990s and the Ene-Farm home fuel cell became the world's first commercialized fuel cell system targeted at household heating and electricity generation with its release in Japan in 2009, fuel cells have struggled to find widespread adoption.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Part of the reason is their complexity and another is that they tend to be very expensive due, in part, to the need for precious metals like platinum for catalysts. Because such catalysts are easily poisoned by impurities, fuel cells also have a reputation for poor reliability. The Fraunhofer approach was to come up with a fuel cell for the home that’s simple, and can be installed and maintained like a common household gas heater that runs on natural gas.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Like the Bloom Box and SOFC system developed at the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT), the Fraunhofer system is based on solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technology, which uses a ceramic electrolyte to produce electricity as oxygen combines with hydrogen. SOFC's work at a higher temperature than other fuel cell designs, such as those used in cars. Where proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) car fuel cells can only reach 80⁰ C (176⁰ F), SOFCs can reach up to 850⁰ C (1,562⁰ F). In other applications, such heat is a problem, but for home applications it can be turned to the homeowner’s advantage for keeping the home warm or heating water.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Since ceramics can withstand high temperatures, its suitable for a SOFC, and this higher temperature makes it simpler to design and cheaper to operate. It also avoids using platinum or other precious metals as a catalyst, which brings down the cost.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Like most fuel cells systems, the individual CD-like Fraunhofer cells are very low power, producing less than a volt, so they need to be organized into stacks. In practice, the fuel cell is hooked up to the domestic gas supply. As the gas enters, a reformer breaks up the gas into a hydrogen-rich mixture, which reacts with the stack in what is called “cold combustion” to produce heat and electricity. Meanwhile, there’s an afterburner to increase efficiency from the exhaust gases.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">According to Fraunhofer, the current design is as compact as a gas heater, and can be installed in the same places as a heater. But instead of producing just heat, it also puts out one kilowatt of electricity as well, which is about enough for a family of four. The technology is currently undergoing trials involving 150 units in homes in Europe as part of the <a href="http://www.callux.net/home.English.html" style="background-color: transparent; color: #1e8dd7; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Callux</a> practice test to see how well they function in a domestic environment.</span></div>

Scientists 3D Bioprint Artificial Blood Vessels

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Ali Khademhosseini, PhD, biomedical engineer, and director of the BWH Biomaterials Innovation Research Center, said, “Engineers have made incredible strides in making complex artificial tissues such as those of the heart, liver and lungs…However, creating artificial blood vessels remains a critical challenge in tissue engineering. We’ve attempted to address this challenge by offering a unique strategy for vascularization of hydrogel constructs that combine advances in 3D bio-printing technology and biomaterials.”</span></div>

The team then covered the mould with hydrogel, thereby forming a cast over the mould, which was then reinforced via photocrosslinks.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Khademhosseini said, “Our approach involves the printing of agarose fibres that become the blood vessel channels. But what is unique about our approach is that the fibre templates we printed are strong enough that we can physically remove them to make the channels. This prevents having to dissolve these template layers, which may not be so good for the cells that are entrapped in the surrounding gel.”</span></div>

SAMSUNG TIZEN OS AN ANSWER TO GOOGLE'S ANDROID

Samsung seems to be aware of this issue, offering special promotional offers to new developers and hosting local app challenges in Russia and other CIS countries around the device’s launch.</span></div>

Furze Recreates Pyro From X-Men

Well, it turns out Mr. Furze isn’t content to just let his past successes carry him into the future, as he has successfully decided to transform himself into another X-Men character.</span></div>

One can only wonder if Furze is intent on becoming each member of the X-Men. I have to admit, it’d be pretty awesome if he figured out a way to become Cyclops.</span></div>

Of all his videos, this one seems the most dangerous, as he straps on a gas canister and creates wrist controls which shoot flames out using a pilot light and propane. The flames are pretty impressive, too – going about 12 feet into the air – worthy of Pyro himself, maybe. Check out the video below.</span></div>

But, since not very many of us probably have that much time on our hands, we’ll have to be contented with Furze’s efforts. He’s been successful with Wolverine, Magneto, and now Pyro – who will he seek to become next? Anyone’s guess is as good as mine.</span></div>

If you run out of space (you get 5 GB free for your iCloud Photo Library), Apple will sell you extra storage, starting at US$0.99 per month. The Photos app has also been updated with simple editing tools, with a desktop equivalent promised early next year.</span></div>

Photos compare Apple iPhone 6 mockup to older models

As it turned out, Dickson had a network of Foxconn workers who were sending him pictures of parts, and the parts themselves. Well, kind of, anyway.</span></div>

While it’s understandable to want to be Magneto, of course, one doesn’t imagine that many people have actually attempted to undergo the transformation. But, Mr. Furze doesn’t seem like most people, and that’s definitely a good thing. Using a pair of Vans shoes and countless magnetic coils from old microwaves, he created himself a pair of working Magneto boots.</span></div>

That’s right – he figured out a way to create a strong enough magnetic current to support his entire body weight – and all this from parts of old microwaves in a scrap yard. You see, you just never know what you could find in a junkyard. And you never know what kind of a super-villian you could turn yourself into with old appliance parts.</span></div>

This month, the public will get the chance to meet a robot at the Natural History Museum in London that may be a bit kinder to furniture and tabbies. The University of Lincoln’s Linda robot, which will mingle with visitors, is designed to learn about its surroundings and make it easier to work human environments.</span></div>

Its name is a reference to “Lindum Colonia,” the ancient name for the city of Lincoln. It’s one of six robots built for the £7.2 million (US$12 million) <a href="http://strands.acin.tuwien.ac.at/index.html" style="background-color: transparent; color: #1e8dd7; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">STRANDS</a> project, which aims to produce robots suitable for working with security guards and staff in nursing homes.</span></div>

By constantly studying shapes, people, and activities, Linda can build models and “learn” about an area as it identifies changes and alters its behavior to accommodate them.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Security and nursing are an ideal first application because those environments are relatively stable and predictable, so they’re easy for Linda to learn. According to the development team, Linda can currently map a building and run on its own for 30 days. The goal is to get Linda to operate for 120 days straight by the end of the project, though the system could potentially operate autonomously for months at a time, and in less structured environments, such as a museum full of visitors.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">The first 100 test versions will have controls in them but in the future, there are hopes that they won’t need them.  The controls are needed only so that the laws of California, Nevada and Florida which allow autonomous cars but only if the person ‘driving’ can take control if needed.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">The director of Google’s Driverless car project, Chris Urmson, said that the goal of the project was to run lots of tests in California where <a href="http://www.google.com/about/company/facts/locations/" style="color: #0092dd;" target="_blank" title="Googel Head Office Info">Google is based</a>.  His argument is that driverless cars will eventually improve road safety which is mostly caused by human error.  He stated that this development is “an important step toward improving road safety and transforming mobility for millions of people”. They also said that it was actually safer taking all controls out of the car because human error did not improve if drivers suddenly have to take over the vehicle. Urmson says, “We saw stuff that made us a little nervous.”  After all, its hard enough to fix a problem while driving, if you are paying attention.  You either trust the machine, or you don’t.</span></div>

Audi gets sporty with Q3 inflatable camper and 525-hp A3 concept

Audi has a lighter, simpler design in mind for adventure camping. It is showing the "Q3 camping tent" on a special outdoor version of the crossover at this weekend's VW Wörthersee event in Austria. The inflatable tent joins a kayak rack in giving the car a sporty edge.</span></div>

The tent can be secured to the open rear hatch of the car, creating an extended car/tent space, or set up as a freestanding unit. Audi says that it takes about seven minutes to set up from bag to fully inflated tent. The tent's structure can stand up to 43.5 mph (70 km/h) winds.</span></div>

The Tipoo tent is a car-affixed tent that expands the sleeping capacity of the Yatoo camper-in-a-box system, while the Habitent makes a camper out of an unlikely base vehicle: the Toyota Prius.</span></div>

The headliner is the A3 clubsport quattro concept. Based on the S3 sedan, the car's 2.5-liter five-cylinder TFSI engine is cranked up to 525 hp – that's 211.7 hp per liter, 6.4 lb (2.9 kg)/hp. A series of modifications, including a larger turbocharger, modified intercooler and redesigned intake and exhaust systems, contribute to the power boost, which also comes with 443 lb-ft of torque available between 2,300 and 6,000 rpm. The A3 clubsport quattro shoots to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.6 seconds before reaching a top speed over 192 mph (310 km/h). A launch control system and electronic stabilization help drivers effectively hone all that output.</span></div>

The multi-plate clutch on the rear axle is designed to divert part of the torque from the front to rear when the driver is engaged in quick cornering.</span></div>

Retuned, driver-adjustable suspension settings lower the A3 clubsport quattro by 10 mm (.4 in) and package extra taut springs and dampers, adding to the car's sporty ride.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">When it's time to bring the 525 ponies to rest, the A3 clubsport quattro relies on the four carbon fiber-ceramic disc brakes peeking out from behind the 21-in wheels rolled in 275/25 R21 tires. The concept also has an air brake system that deploys at higher speeds. The rear spoiler flips to near-vertical position to assist the disc brakes, with Audi claiming that the system decreases stopping distance by close to 40 feet (12 m) when used at 155 mph (250 km/h).</span></div>

"We have pushed the limits in every respect with this show car: power, dynamics, sound, design."</span></div>

Audi has added straight side "blisters" above the front and rear wheels, broadening the car's shoulders. The Magnetic Blue body is complemented by a CFRP-underlined, matte-aluminum-framed grille, CFRP side sill trims, a round metal fuel door and smaller side mirrors. Aerodynamic treatments include the aforementioned active rear spoiler, a rear diffuser and a front splitter.</span></div>
