Click and Grow's Smart Herb garden was released earlier this year. It aims to help users grow perfect herbs with a minimum of effort.</span></div>

It follows on from Click and Grow's first-generation version, which accommodated just one plant. The new version has room for three.</span></div>

According to the company, the soil "contains pockets for oxygen even when it's wet and supplies plants with an optimal amount of nutrients."</span></div>

Click and Grow says that users need only plug the device into the mains and keep it topped up with water. It all sounds very simple.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">If anything, the Smart Herb Garden was more basic than I was expecting. Firstly, the use of "smart" in a device's name nowadays tends to denote that it's connected to the internet. One could argue that this is a touch misleading, although in isolation it's not a big deal (a website showing data about how your herbs are doing could be quite fun though).</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">For me, however, some of the language used on the Smart Herb Garden page of the Click and Grow website is also a bit questionable. It talks of "sensors and software" that "measure the conditions and make sure your plant is feeling well," and references the "high tech" that is involved in the device. I was surprised, therefore, to discover that none of the above really held true.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">The Smart Herb Garden is, basically, a large reservoir of water into which the herb cartridges are suspended to keep them moist. The light is on a timer, but that's about the most technological aspect of the device itself. The specially formulated soil in the herb cartridges, meanwhile, is the most sophisticated aspect of the whole thing, which Click and Grow rightly makes a point of noting.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">I put this to Click and Grow's representatives and was advised that the "sensor" to which the site refers is, in fact, the plastic float that sinks as the water level drops and the "software" that is mentioned is actually for another product, the Smartpot. Why it's mentioned on the Smart Herb Garden page, therefore, I don't know.</span></div>

It does what's expected of it and grows great herbs, as you can see from our lead image. As per the guidance provided, it took about six weeks for each of the herb plants to get to a good size, growing especially rapidly between the fourth and sixth weeks. The plants clearly responded to the light too, which I'm sure helps things along significantly. There are also a variety of refill cartridges to choose from.</span></div>

Although that price includes three cartridges, it still seems fairly steep.</span></div>

The latest such transportation device to come to our attention is the Movpak: an electric skateboard-like EV that fits into a backpack, and still leaves some room for carrying stuff.</span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Movpak is the work of a Brazilian startup of the same name, and whether there's a direct influence or not, appears to be an evolution of the same general idea that gave rise to the Olaf, the Micro Luggage, and the Fly.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">However, Movpak boasts a significant benefit over the previous efforts in that this skateboard-like device has electric drive and can speed along at up to 15 mph (24 km/h) for up to 9 miles (14 km) before needing a recharge – which itself takes a couple of hours. Movpak measures 60 x 30 cm (24 x 12 in), weighs 7.7 kg (17 lb), and can also be pulled along like a luggage trolley. When in operation, the Movpak is steered like a skateboard (with the backpack sitting to the rear) and acceleration is controlled with a wireless controller that the company is still refining.</span></div>

One simply pulls up the backpack with a snap, releasing the board, and it's stowed away by pushing the board back into the bag. There's also enough room left in the backpack for a laptop and some clothes.</span></div>

Not only can that heat a prepackaged meal, it can do light cooking, including hard-boiling an egg and cooking fish filets. Cooking times will vary based on what's being prepared. Mealspec warns that the leftover water cannot be used for drinking and food needs to be stored in its own container when cooking in the Heater bag.</span></div>

Sometimes, though, you might just want to do some freehand pen-and-ink drawing using such "captured colors." That's just what Scribble's upcoming Ink color picker pen is designed to let you do.</span></div>

When you later want to draw or write in that color, the pen reproduces it by mixing ink from its cyan, magenta, yellow, white and/or black refillable cartridges.</span></div>

Smart Notice is also able to make contextual suggestions, such as commenting that the user should take an umbrella out with them after it checks the weather.</span></div>
