Dunn and Hillam's Desert House was designed to withstand the extreme desert conditions while remaining energy efficient. The AIA cited the project's "genuine sensibility to environmental management in this specific climate."</span></div>

The clients requested that the house engage with the surrounding landscape, that it provide multiple places to be use depending on the time of day and weather, and that it minimize energy usage.</span></div>

The house is cut into the rock and uses the thermal mass of the rock to regulate its internal temperature.</span></div>

The fly-roof sits 600 mm (24 in) above the insulated roof, creating a pocket of warm air during the day. This creates a "thermal draw," helping to pull cool air up from the rock below into the enclosed central courtyard and creating the house's own micro-climate. The cool air can then be drawn into the building through low windows around the courtyard.</span></div>

Slabs of flooring concrete are cooled using water that is pumped through them. During the winter, solar-heated water can be added into the system to warm the house if need be.</span></div>

This means that the chance of cool air leaking out of the house (or warm leaking in) is minimized. Similarly, temperature in different sections of the house can be managed independently.</span></div>

The glove uses a Bluetooth 4.0 LE module in its wrist, sensors in each fingertip and a magnet in the thumb to wirelessly control your phone. Each finger offers single and double-tap actions to control the phone's music. You can play, pause, skip forward, and backtrack through music; control volume; and activate Siri.</span></div>

It's built to work seamlessly from within the outer glove, so there's no reason to remove anything when controlling your music on the move.</span></div>

Buyers can use one set of electronic innards for multiple gloves and wristbands.</span></div>

However, GoGlove designers plan on releasing an API next year so that app developers can make their apps compatible with the wireless hardware. It imagines athletes controlling things like fitness-tracking apps from the comfort of their fingertips.</span></div>

The $129 estimated retail price is well under the $235 price of the cheapest BearTek wireless glove ($95 classic glove + $140 module) and reflects the advantage of offering the technology in a thin, inexpensive liner, as opposed to a heavy winter glove.</span></div>

LG Display claims to have also reduced the haze of the panel, caused by circuit devices and film components, to just 2 percent.</span></div>

"I think there's a trick that nature has discovered, that evolution has discovered, that we're not making the most of yet."</span></div>

There are high-end earphones or professional in-ear monitors available that require the buyer to pop along to an audiologist and go through an uncomfortable custom fit process to ensure the buds won't keep falling out as you run through the park or jump around the stage. Or you could look into having a custom set of earphones made. This is precisely what Normal founder Nikki Kaufman did, but the significant cost and long shipping delay she encountered prompted her to find another way. She came up with a way to tailor each pair of earphones to the wearer using a free mobile app and a 3D printer.</span></div>

Using the Normal iOS/Android app, buyers line up each ear for a photo using a smartphone's camera. A coin (a US quarter) is placed near the ear so that the Normal software can determine scale. Then it's time for personalization of the earphones themselves.</span></div>

Normal says that a "personalized fit means the earphones stay comfortably in place, guaranteed." It's backing that up by offering to produce another set free of charge or refund payment if a customer is not completely satisfied with the fit or audio quality.</span></div>

What we can tell you is that the earphones feature 14 mm neodymium dynamic drivers, have a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, 109 dB per mW sensitivity, a total harmonic distortion of less than 1 percent, and 32 Ohm impedance.</span></div>
